Born to a military family in the 1900’s, Carrie found her role in the family as the youngest of three girls. As such, she quickly needed to learn and adapt to survive. Family life took her young years from one location to the next, until finding a home in Oshkosh, Nebraska. It was during this time she learned, not to churn butter or drive a wagon, but of her own love of sporting activities and creativity in crafts. It was during this time in Nebraska Carrie came to know God as her Heavenly Father after the passing of her earthly one. Activities now expanded to regular church participation in all the ways one might be needed in a small church.
Moving to Ohio during junior high, she found her place again in sports and her new church home. The later years of high school came with many challenges, including the loss of her mother followed by navigating life earlier than expected. But the great generation known as Gen X doesn’t back down from a fight. Reconnecting with Jesus in new ways, she partnered with God to launch into full adulthood, holding fast to faith but still working in volleyball as much as possible. Shifting from a career in HR to working at a local church, she was then called to stay at home for a time.
Partnering with her in her adventures is her husband, Brian. They started out partying like it’s 1999, married in 2000, and have since collaborated in raising their daughter, making a home, and honoring God with their family. Life’s greatest challenge has proved to be motherhood, with two children in different phases of their lives calling on her creativity and strength. Those who know her kids…well, you get it.
